September Mini Book :)

I was super excited to receive this mini book in the kit. I've been stalking it because I love Jenni Bowlin, I love the shaped, I love the lined papers inside, and I love the cute small size!! I did use some of the papers inside for journaling and title blocks in some layouts, but I used the rest of it for a mini book---perfect for Grandparent's Day!!

I used small photos for this mini book, ack! I can't remember this size and I don't have it with me...sorry! This book was put together in less than 1 hour. I adhered the photos directly on the inside pages. Then I just dressed them up with flowers from my stash. I also had the kids write something on the opposite page...even our sweet 21 month old Joey :) I always give my parents something handmade--album, canvas, set of cards, etc... My mom is not a crafty type. It doesn't even seem she is very interested in what I do and the things I give her. True, she does display them in her home, but she never really talks about them...oh well..LOL! BUT---I was getting a receipt in her purse the other day and I saw the mini book in there!! My heart leaped with joy. She really appreciated this one and although it was a simple gift, I felt like it was the best one I've given. THANKS for everything Mom and Dad!!

You can check out the rest of the mini book in the Sept Gallery. THANK YOU so much for taking a peek :)

New Pink Paislee is Coming Our Way!

Have you seen the 2 new Pink Paislee lines that are coming out at the end of October?

If you love Pink Paislee as much as we do, then we know you won't want to miss out on these 2 great lines.

We already have a great kit lined up for you in November, so we decided to offer 2 additional mini kits in November with the 2 new Pink Paislee lines.

Each mini kit will include 1 sheet of each of the patterned papers, the ribbons, rub-ons, the postcards and an alphabet. We will be selling the mini kits for only $15! Plus they ship for free with your regular kit.

You can email us to reserve your Pink Paislee kits or wait for them to come up in the add-ons section at the end of October.

Painting Circles

If you are looking for a quick way to dress up the background of a layout, try painting circles.
For this layout I used the base of a glass jar as a stamp. I just applied the paint to the jar and then randomly stamped circles onto the cardstock.

It was a fast (and a little messy!) way to add a little something to the layout.

I used the August "Summer Magic" kit for this layout. Just the kit (nothing extra), except for the paint.

Title Help

Okay, on a recent trip, we got some great shots of my kids in this great big hat. I want to make a fun layout and am in need of some help with a title or an idea for the layout? Any suggestions? I promise to use one of your's listed here and to post the finished product soon! :)

Other Uses for Mini Album

Your September kit came with an adorable Jenni Bowlin mini label album. I know many of you will make great mini albums out of it, but if you have a couple of extra pages, you may want to use them in other ways.

Here are 3 other ways I decided to use the great lined pages from the album.

1. Use it as a mat for a title. I cut the top part of the page off and just let it hang under the photo.

2. Use it on a card. Here's a birthday card a recently made for a friend. The rhinestones and numbers are from previous kits. It was fun to layer the crepe paper ribbon and let a little hang off of the edges of the card.
3. Use it for a journaling space. Since the page is lined, it makes a great spot for journaling.

Hope have fun discovering create ways to use your mini label album!

Fun with the September Kit (and Hello!)

Hi there everyone! I'm Jen Davis and I am so thrilled to be a part of the team of designers for Scrapbook Circle! I've been scrapbooking now for close to 5 years, seriously scrapping for probably 3. I discovered scrapbooking (as it is today) after wandering into a scrapbook store in search of supplies to create table decorations for my wedding in 2003. I obviously went back and haven't stopped scrapping since! I wouldn't say that I really have a specific "style" when it comes to scrapbooking, I love trying new things, new techniques, etc. Sometimes my emphasis is on telling a story and other times I'll find that I just enjoy playing with supplies and exploring design principles. It's always about sharing the pictures though. Growing up I was always doing something creative as well and remember standing in our small town pharmacy agonizing over what Hello Kitty papers and pencils I would choose as my "special treat" of choice from my parents. Things aren't much different today I must say! Only difference now is it's patterned papers of all kinds and fun scrapbooking embellishments! Speaking of which...

I've had a chance to play with the September Kit, Vintage Flair and I am loving the mix of bright colors that are incorporated in the American Crafts goodies and the funky papers by Pink Paislee, Scenic Route and the embellishments by Jenni Bowlin. This is one super kit! Everything in the above layout is included in the September kit with the exception of the mini alpha stickers and the chipboard frame. Though the chipboard frame can be purchased right here at Scrapbook Circle by clicking here!

I love, love, love the crepe paper trims by Jenni Bowlin and had fun machine stitching some on this layout here of my husband and I. Awesome kit, can't wait to play with it some more and am so excited to be here at Scrapbook Circle!

Blessings!
Jen

Organization project (and hello!)

Hello! I am so excited and honored to have been selected as part of the Scrapbook Circle design team! So thrilled, in fact, that I just had to go create something to keep all my Scrapbook Circle "stuff" in over the next 6 months. I think it is a project that can also easily be adapted to a "School Stuff" book, and many of us need those this time of year. I can't tell you how many papers I already have to keep up with! Here it is:

I used 6 file folders (regular office supply type), some assorted patterned papers, 3 book rings, some tabs, assorted patterned papers, ribbons, scrappy embellishments, stamps, and the super cute Scrapbook Circle sticker we get on our kits. I trimmed the patterned paper in strips and a circle, edged a couple of them with my threading water punch, and adhered them all to one of the MM Passport papers from the Travel Journal kit. I folded them around the file folders, which I decorated with stamps. Inside, I cut some of my grid and lined patterned papers and layered them with a little decorative paper. I lined everything up and used my Crop-a-Dile to punch the holes. I have one of the little hole punches attached to the back, ready to punch anything I want to add (I found mine at Staples BTS sale for 25 cents).
As I said before, I am so happy to be designing for Scrapbook Circle. I have been scrapping off and on since I was just a kit. A few years ago I found "non-chronological" scrapping and kits, and I have been truly hooked ever since! I have been married for 13 years, have a 9 year old son and an almost 5 year old daughter. I have been a SAHM since my daughter was born. I love trying new arts & crafts (including photography, painting, pottery, and beading). I can't wait to get to know everyone better!
