That "Homespun" look
On one of my layouts for May, I wanted to give it a 'homespun' feel. So, I got out my sewing machine, and, instead of sewing around the whole layout like I normally do, I just started sewing lines here and there -- wherever I felt like it!
The background paper was not too dark, so the lines don't stand out that much, but the overall effect was what I was going for. I sewed lines up and down and horizontally -- sometimes two or three in a row, sometimes just single lines.
The key is -- don't back stitch -- just leave the threads hanging there -- I trimmed them down to about 1/2 a centimeter. Another hint -- I left the threads attached on the back of the layout -- so that they don't pull out easily and come unthreaded. Enjoy!
