Burlap canvas and April fun!

Well, I finally finished my burlap canvas. I was determined to make some sort of wall decor out of a full piece of burlap. Thanks to Diana for reminding us that we each got 2 sheets in our March kit! So, this is what I came up with!

I love how it turned out. I went to Hobby Lobby and looked around for blank 12 x 12 canvases that I could paint black. They weren't on sale, but their 12 x 12 canvases that had pictures on them were. So, being the frugal person that I was, I bought a canvas that was already black and had brown lines on it (see photo), and then, I just covered up the ugly flower that was on there with the burlap and my photo.

I took some embroidery floss that matched the burlap and sewed it on. You can't even see the stitches. Then, I ended up stapling on the photo since no other method was working. This photo is the one I blogged about last week that I made from that Japanese site.

Finally, since it is a picture of a lighthouse, I thought of a fun 'light' quote, and chose one from the Bible. I cut it out of vinyl and put it on in no time! Now it hangs proudly in our kitchen to remind our whole family to let our lights shine!

Also, I've been playing with the April kit and I love all the fun colors. Here is just one layout that I've finished. I'm in the middle of three or four more!
