Countdown to Christmas

This year I thought it would be nice to do our advent calendar in a more meaningful way. I had this little magnetic board from the Target $2.50 spot, and some library pockets, cards and clip from the teacher supply store. I used papers and a few Oct. Afternoon embellies from Peppermint Dreams, a Unity stamp, and some Martha Stewart number stamps. I printed out Luke 2:1-20 and printed a verse for each day.

2 years ago, my mother-in-law helped my son memorize this passage so he could say it for us on Christmas Eve. This year, we will read a verse each day to refresh his memory and work on memorizing it on days 20-24, before Grandma arrives, so both kids can say it for her this Christmas Eve.

You could use this same idea and put lots of things on the cards for each day: recipes, Christmas carols, poems, an activity together, or a Christmas memory from your childhood you would like to share with your family. Just 23 more days to go!
